DECO's next concert in Lichfield Cathedral is on June 19th, 2010 at 7:30pm and features the best in English Music for Strings. Perfect for a midsummer evening. DECO is joined by the award winning Boult String Quartet in Elgar's wonderful Introduction and Allegro.

THE BOULT QUARTET Hsin-jung (Cindy) Wu Violin Catalin Chelaru Violin Pippa Lodge Viola Philip Handy Cello The Boult Quartet came together in September 2008, and they have already established themselves as a very promising and exciting ensemble. In their short time together, the Boult Quartet has performed extensively throughout Birmingham, including the Chamber Music Festival in Birmingham Conservatoire in February (2009) to great critical acclaim ' the stunner was Shostakovich No.7...displaying such superb control of timbre and dynamics' (Birmingham Post, 24/02/09). The Boult Quartet was the winner of the Sylvia Cleaver Chamber Music Competition 2009 and recently participated in the Greenwich International String Quartet Festival (April, 09)in London, and the Burbage Arts Festival (May, 09). The Quartet are currently studying with David Angel and Robin Ireland, and has received masterclasses from the Carducci Quartet, the Chilingirian Quartet, the Endellion Quartet, Schubert Ensemble, and the Smith Quartet. They were awarded a full scholarship at the West Dean College Summer Course in July (09) with the Chiligirian Quartet. They were also invited to participate at the International Double Reed Society Convention (2009) in Birmingham last July. The Boult Quartet are currently Junior Fellows and Quartet-in-Residence at Birmingham Conservatoire and gratefully acknowledges support from the Birmingham Chamber Music Society. |
