Darwin Ensemble

DECO’s Autumn concert, Unfinished Business takes place at 7.30pm on 2 October 2010 in Lichfield Cathedral.  After the strings-only summer concert, the orchestra returns to full forces for this performance.

The concert will open with Mozart’s dazzling Overture to the Magic Flute.  DECO will then be joined by star cellist Rowena Calvert for Haydn’s Cello concerto in C, one of the earliest great concertos for this instrument.  The concert concludes with Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony.  The composer completed only the first two movements; he always intended to return to the symphony to supply the other two movements, but never did so.  Despite being “incomplete”, the Unfinished rightly holds its place as one of the finest and most loved works that Schubert produced
