Darwin Ensemble

Happy New Year! 
DECO's next concert takes place on 19th February 2011 at 7.30pm in the Cathedral.  
Being so close to St Valentine's Day we have chosen a romantic theme for the concert: Romantic Ideals

The programme comprises: 
Faure's Pavanne - a slow stately dance of the Spanish court, recalling belle epoque elegance; 
Strauss' Oboe Concerto - a lyrical escapist piece, which will feature as soloist George Caird, the internationally renowned oboist; 
Sibelius' Pelleas and Melisande -  a nine movement suite chronicling the timeless tale of illicit and doomed love between Pelleas and Melisande.  

As before, drinks will be available in the interval.  

It still remains our intention to keep our tickets affordable, and music accesible to all, so we have not increased the prices.  Tickets are priced at £15 (adults); £12 (concs) and £5 (children) for the reserved seating in the nave.  The unreserved seats (which in some cases have a slightly restricted view) are priced at £12 (adults); £10 (concs) and £4 (children).
