Darwin Ensemble

The name Darwin is inextricably linked to the concept of evolution. The Darwin Ensemble's name was chosen with the ideas of growth, adaptation and flexibility in mind. The Chamber Orchestra (DECO) is the most complete manifestation of the Darwin Ensemble, but it has within its make up the potential to be any size or shape of ensemble that is required.

The Darwin Ensemble String Quartet (DESQ) and the Darwin Ensemble Piano Trio (DEPT) have been called into existence on a number of occasions. But any size of ensemble from duo to octet to the whole orchestra is possible to create. And DE does not have to involve strings - what about the Darwin Ensemble Winds (DEW)?

Help us to evolve more combinations by asking us to play and challenging us with your ideas for how we can be part of an entertainment or educational event you wish to put on. The DE can be booked in any configuration, depending on occasion, programme, venue and budget. From weddings to private functions to school instrumental or composing workshops - we can cover it. That is the joy of evolution and adaptation!
