Darwin Ensemble

Memebers of DECO had a fantastic and productive time in Edinburgh on March 19th working on and performing 4 compositions by young composers.

Working with established composers, Kenneth Dempster and Lyell Cresswell, DECO worked on aspects of composition and performance through the afternoon before performing all the works in a concert in the evening.

James Smythe, winner of the under 18 category wrote after: "thank you again for the insight you and the other performers gave me yesterday with regards to the initial reaction to a composition. The experience helped me to see that there’s a lot that I could improve especially in terms of dynamic markings and performance directions"

Mark Boden, winner of the over 18 category wrote after: "The whole event was superbly run, with excellent hospitality shown and musicians who were approachable, engaging and dynamic. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and wish to thank you again for this important opportunity in promoting the work of young composers."
