Clare grew up in Northamptonshire and in 2003 gained a scholarship to the Birmingham Conservatoire where she studied under Jonathan Rimmer and later Colin Lilley. Whilst at the Conservatoire she was a Chandos Young Musician finalist as well as performing solo recitals around Birmingham.

   She is passionate about music education and was involved for several years with the Music Mites community project based at the Stables Theatre. Since graduating in 2007 she has toured with Ensemble Cymru both for recitals and education projects. She is the flute specialist for Lichfield Cathedral School and runs a thriving private teaching practice from her home in Lichfield. As a performer Clare freelances locally with such groups as Eroica Camerata and English Pro Musica and of course DECO with whom she has appeared both as orchestral and chamber flautist and as a concerto soloist. She has also been involved in a number of contemporary music projects, especially with the Swift Ensemble, dedicated to performing both established contemporary works and up and coming new composers. Also a pianist and singer, Clare has appeared as a recital accompanist and sung with the CBSO chorus with whom she appeared on the BBC Proms in Beethoven 9 with the Berlin Philharmonic, and recorded Mahler 8 under the directorship of Simon Rattle. She also runs a local Girls' Choir.
